Acceptable Use Policy

Purpose

AthanLab gives people the power to create realistic synthetic speech. That power comes with responsibility. This policy defines what is and is not acceptable use of our platform. Violations may result in immediate account suspension or termination, content removal, and reporting to law enforcement where required.

Voice Cloning Rules

You must have consent to clone any voice that is not your own.

• Your own voice: You may freely clone and use your own voice.
• Another person's voice: You must have their explicit, informed consent before uploading their voice sample. "Informed" means they understand their voice will be used to generate synthetic speech by AI.
• Public figures: You may NOT clone the voice of politicians, celebrities, journalists, or any public figure without their documented written consent — regardless of whether their voice recordings are publicly available.
• Deceased individuals: You must have consent from their estate or legal representative.
• Minors: You may NOT clone the voice of anyone under 18 years old under any circumstances.

Prohibited Content

You may NOT use AthanLab to generate audio that:

• Impersonates someone without consent — creating audio that sounds like a real person saying things they never said, without their knowledge and permission.
• Deceives or misleads — fake news audio, fabricated statements attributed to real people, deepfake audio designed to manipulate.
• Facilitates fraud — voice phishing (vishing), scam calls, identity theft, fake customer service calls, or any form of financial fraud.
• Contains hate speech or threats — audio targeting individuals or groups based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexuality, disability, or national origin.
• Harasses or intimidates — audio used to bully, stalk, threaten, or intimidate any person.
• Exploits minors — any content involving minors in harmful, sexual, or exploitative contexts.
• Violates laws — content that is illegal in Myanmar, Thailand, or the jurisdiction where you reside.
• Spreads disinformation — fabricated audio designed to undermine elections, public health, or public safety.

Permitted Use

You ARE welcome to use AthanLab for:

• Narrating your own content (YouTube, TikTok, podcasts, blogs, articles)
• Creating audiobooks from content you own or have rights to
• Educational content and e-learning materials
• Religious and spiritual content (sermons, Dhamma talks, readings)
• Accessibility — making text content available as audio for people with disabilities
• Creative projects (games, animation, short films) with proper consent for any cloned voices
• Business use (IVR, product demos, presentations) with proper consent
• Building applications via our API within these same guidelines

Marketplace Rules

• Only publish voices you own or have explicit consent to share publicly.
• Do not upload voice samples that contain copyrighted music, third-party content, or offensive material.
• Voice names and descriptions must not impersonate real people or brands.
• AthanLab reviews marketplace submissions and may reject or remove voices at our discretion.

Watermarking & Traceability

AthanLab applies digital watermarking and fingerprinting to generated audio:

• Audio is watermarked using AudioSeal where available
• A cryptographic fingerprint (SHA-256 hash) is stored for every generation
• These measures help us identify AthanLab-generated audio and trace it to the originating account
• Watermarks are inaudible and do not affect audio quality

Attempting to remove or tamper with watermarks is a violation of this policy. Note that fingerprint verification works on unmodified audio files; heavily transformed audio may not be verifiable.

Enforcement

We take violations seriously. Depending on severity, we may:

• Warn — for first-time minor violations.
• Suspend — temporarily disable your account pending review.
• Terminate — permanently close your account and delete your data.
• Report — notify law enforcement if the violation involves criminal activity.

We do not issue refunds for accounts terminated due to policy violations.

Reporting Abuse

If you encounter misuse of AthanLab or believe someone's voice has been cloned without consent:

• Email support@athanlab.com with details
• Include any evidence (URLs, screenshots, context) to help us investigate

We aim to respond to abuse reports within 48 hours.

Changes

We may update this policy as AI voice technology and regulations evolve. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification.
